TRANSFORMATIONAL

As an educator, I found CULTURES OF CURRICULUM (2nd Edition) to be personally TRANSFORMATIVE. It provided me with a greater UNDERSTANDING of how people arrive at their convictions concerning knowledge, schooling, curriculum, etc. This has given me a higher degree of COMPASSION for the stake holders - students, teachers, parents, administrators, etc. I feel EMPOWERED. I am now more confident in confronting the 'dominant order', as I move forward in the work of 'reculturing curriculum'. Also, the first section on Curriculum Studies is extremely rich. I continue to discover new gems of insight which I enjoy pondering over. This book has inspired me to continue to explore the deeper meanings of curriculum theory. UNDERSTANDING --> COMPASSION --> EMPOWERMENT = TRANSFORMATION.

Interesting, but academically dry

Too many typos to count. I had to read this for a masters degree, but I really slogged through it. The information is dense and endless, making it hard to digest in a college course where you have so much other reading to do. Wish there was a Cliffs Notes version of this.
