About the Author

Thomas L. Sexton, PhD, is a professor in the Counseling Psychology Program at Indiana University and Director of the Center for Adolescent and Family Studies, a major research center for the study of youth and family issues. Dr. Sexton is past president of Division 43 (Family Psychology) of the American Psychological Association, a Diplomat in Family Psychology, and one of the major current FFT model developers. Dr. Sexton is the author or co-author of all of the theoretical publications of FFT in the last decade, co-author of the FFT clinical manual, supervision manual, and former director of the FFT National Dissemination project. Over the last 5 years Dr. Sexton served as a consultant to the Dutch Government where FFT has been implemented through out the country as the primary intervention for at risk youth. In addition, Dr. Sexton’s clinical work (writings, manuals, and video tapes of FFT clinical sessions) is used as the basis of national and international FFT training.

A Must for every Practicum/Internship Student

This is an invaluable help to everyone facing Practicum/Internship. Along with one of the best theory matrices on the market, the forms for case conceptualization, management and evaluation and tools for self evalution are incredibly helpful.

I'm also using it as yet another tool to prepare for comps and NCE.

I have been using this book for class and this has been more like a bible for clinical internship. I love the book. It is my go to for career exploration in mental health. I recommend professors to take a look at the book. I just showed the book to my clinical supervisor who bought the book right after looking through it. It has great worksheets, projects, and lessons that will help develop the future clinician.

Karin Pendle has taught at Oberlin College, the University of Western Ontario (London), and the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, from which she retired in 2004.

Melinda Boyd is Assistant Professor of Music History at the University of Northern Iowa. Her research focuses on women composers and performers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Drawing from multiple disciplines, the Handbook’s over one hundred authors address three central questions: What policy issues and questions have oriented current policy research? What research strategies and methods have proven most fruitful? And what issues, questions, and methods will drive future policy research? Topics such as early childhood education, school choice, access to higher education, teacher accountability, and testing and measurement cut across the 63 chapters in the volume. The politics surrounding these and other issues are objectively analyzed by authors and commentators.

Each of the seven sections concludes with two commentaries by leading scholars in the field. The first considers the current state of policy design, and the second addresses the current state of policy research.

About the Author

Gary Sykes is a Professor of Educational Administration and Teacher Education at Michigan State University. He specializes in educational policy relating to teaching and teacher education. His research interests center on policy issues associated with the improvement of teaching and teacher education, on the development of leadership preparation programs, and on educational choice as an emerging policy issue.

Barbara Schneider is a John A. Hannah University Distinguished Professor in the College of Education and Department of Sociology at Michigan State University. She holds research appointments at the University of Chicago and NORC, where she is Principal Investigator of the Data Research and Development Center (DRDC). She has published 12 books and over 100 articles and reports on family, social context of schooling, and sociology of knowledge. Professor Schneider is currently conducting a collaborative study with the Michigan Department of Education on using administrative data to make state education policy decision. She was selected by the American Sociological Association as the editor of Sociology of Education.

David N. Plank is Executive Director of Policy Analysis for California Education (PACE), an independent policy research center based at the University of California-Berkeley, Stanford University, and the University of Southern California. He was previously a professor at Michigan State University, where he founded and directed the Education Policy Center. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1983. In addition to his work on education policy in the U.S., he has served as a consultant in the areas of educational policy and finance to international organizations including the World Bank, the UNDP, the OECD, USAID, and the Ford Foundation, and also to governments in Africa and Latin America.

About the Author

Marty Steffens is SABEW Chair of business and financial journalism at the University of Missouri. She was a newspaper reporter and editor for 30 years, including executive editor of the San Francisco Examiner, Binghamton (NY) Press and Sun-Bulletin. She's worked many disasters in working at other such newspapers as the Los Angeles Times, Dayton Daily News, St. Paul Pioneer-Press and Minneapolis Star.

Lee Wilkins is a former newspaper reporter and editor who studies media coverage of disasters and hazards. She has written or edited books and articles about the Bhopal, India, chemical spill, the 1993 mid-west flood, global climate change, and El Nino, among other events. She is now a Curator's Teaching Professor at the University of Missouri where she also teaches and writes extensively about media ethics.

Fred Vultee is an assistant professor of journalism in the Wayne State University Communication Department. He studies the ways in which traditional media and new media function in conflicts and crises. As a longtime newspaper journalist, he was frequently involved in the coverage of natural and technological disasters, and he may be the only member of the "Disasters on Deadline" team to have spent the night under a table in the newsroom during a hurricane.

Esther Thorson is Associate Dean of the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and Director of Research for the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Thorson has published extensively on the news industry, advertising, news effects and health communication. Her scholarly work has won many research and writing awards and she has advised more than 40 doctoral dissertations. She is the only female Fellow of the American Academy of Advertising. She also consults extensively with newspaper companies and advertisers. Some of her latest work focuses on newspaper economics.

As Associate Professor in the Missouri School of Journalism and Executive News Editor at KOMU-8 TV, Greeley Kyle teaches reporting, interviewing, writing, visual storytelling and many of the intricacies of broadcast news. Previously (1984-1994), Greeley was the senior correspondent for WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee and headed the "Target 5" investigative team. As a journalist, he’s won several of UNDA's Gabriel awards, Sigma Delta Chi's first ever Golden Press Card as well as awards for spot and feature news coverage. As an educator, Greeley's been awarded the Maxine Shutz Distinguished Professor Award, the local NABJ Professor of the Year, and was selected a University of Missouri "Icon."

Associate Professor Kent Collins has been managing news stories and newsrooms for 40 years, in the small market, medium market, and large market. He has designed "crash books" to give radio and television newsrooms step-by-step instructions for covering disasters on deadline. Collins presents interactive disaster-on-deadline seminars for broadcasters associations nationwide.

About the Author

Valérie Bénéjam is Maître de Conférences in English literature at the Université de Nantes. She wrote her PhD under the supervision of Jean-Michel Rabaté at the University of Burgundy in Dijon, and has written numerous articles on Joyce. She is currently completing a book-length study of Ulysses entitled All About Molly, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the International James Joyce Foundation.

John Bishop is Associate Professor of English at the University of California at Berkeley, specializing in 20th-century British and American literature. In addition to having written numerous articles on Joyce, he is the author of a study of Finnegans Wake that has become a classic of Joyce criticism, Joyce’s Book of the Dark (1986). He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the International James Joyce Foundation.

About the Author

Krishnamurthy Sriramesh, PhD, is Professor of Public Relations at the School of Business, Massey University, in Wellington, New Zealand. He taught previously at Purdue University, the University of Florida, and Nanyang Technological University, and has served as visiting professor at universities in three continents. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious Pathfinder Award from the Institute for Public Relations (USA) for original scholarly research contributing to the public relations body of knowledge.

Dejan Vercic, PhD, FCIPR is a partner at Pristop agency and Associate Professor of Public Relations and Communication Management at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Among his clients are governments, domestic and international corporations, and associations. He organizes the Lake Bled International Public Relations Research Symposia, held annually in Bled, Slovenia.

each chap has a different author, so there is a lot of uneven-ness, even in terms of the type of things covered.
Some chaps better than others. I highly recommend the Kindle eBook version (even if you have an iPad) though the charts and graphs are hard to read sometimes.

This hefty tome contains valuable information on cross-cultural public relations practices and the evolution of public relations in different cultural settings. The handbook is grouped by continent, and articles provide histories of PR in particular cultures, case studies, and practical information run through with public relations theory. It is however written from a euro-western perspective; the ideas and practices here are for white, Western and European public relations practitioners who need to operate and communicate within unfamiliar cultures. The final section focuses on the influencers, movers and shakers in global public relations. Not a lightweight read, but crammed full of useful information.
